My ProfileI am interested in databases - particularly: raster databases - and Web technologies. Among the manifold application areas of raster databases, I iam doing research - including a series of publications - in database technology for geo, life science, and simulation data. Which does not exclude further areas, such as distance learning, for the future. My career is characterized by working close to the borderline between scientific innovation and industrial application - sometimes on this, sometimes on that side of the border - or on both. I like to combine flexible, innovative thinking with solid craftsmanship. Academically, I am Professor of Computer Science at Constructor University (formerly: Jacobs University) Bremen. Further, I am founder and CEO of rasdaman GmbH which commercializes the first fully scalable Array Analytics engine, rasdaman® (raster data manager), architected by me. Among my earlier mothaship connections were FORWISS - where I was Assistant Head of the Knowledge Bases Research Group -, Softlab GmbH, and Fraunhofer Computer Graphics Group. Academic degree: Dr. rer. nat., Computer Science, Technische Universität Darmstadt Sometimes I do find time for research, unless it is eaten up by administrative tasks or gladly invested into Boards, Service, and Membership activities. My private interests include folk music from everywhere over the world and dancing: bailar Salsa, Merengue, Cumbia, Samba, Lambada, Boogie Woogie, Jive, and several more. Well, and there's much more about hobbies: flying, Karate, inline skating, horseback riding, scuba diving, ...and not to forget all the stuff I'd love to do more if I only had time for it, such as generating patterned noise - I avoid calling that music - by playing, eg, acoustic guitar. Leider habe ich keine Links - dafür aber Rechts! ;-) |
